The second annual 'Give 716' charity fundraiser ended on 7/16, 2022 at 7:16 PM and Fluvanna scored big-time!!!
'Give 716' is Western New York’s (WNY) day of online giving sponsored by the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Over the course of the 36-hour campaign, the Bills, Sabres and various WNY corporations matched over $200,000 in donations. In total this year, 'Give 716' raised a whopping $1,119,706 for charities throughout the community!
'Touchdown, Fluvanna!!'
The Fluvanna Community Historical Society (FCHS) set records at this year's 'Give 716' event too. Over the course of the three-day event, FCHS received over $15,000 in donations!!! Of these donations, WNY's favorite professional athletic teams matched the gifts received by donating just over $7,000.
All donations made to FCHS through 'Give 716' will be used to further the programing of the Historical Society and replace the roof on Fluvanna's historic Meeting House.
"Go Bills!!!" "Go Sabres!!!" "Go Fluvanna!!!"
FCHS Member Scores a Josh Allen Jersey
'Give 716' donors won prizes over the course of the three-day event and Fluvanna's supporters were no exception. Members and friends of FCHS received 'Give 716' t-shirts, donation matches, Bills and Sabers banners, apparel and more.
Cindy Rodgers, an ardent supporter of both FCHS and the Buffalo Bills, scored an especially rare prize. As part of this year's event, Josh Allen - WNY's favorite quarterback in the NFL - donated 100 of his autographed jerseys to help raise funds. Starting at 8:00 PM on 7/16, the first 100 donors who gave at least $716 won an autographed jersey. So many supporters donated at the start of the hour, it was not clear who would receive one of the coveted #17 jerseys. Cindy hoped she would be one of the lucky few to win the much-sought Josh Allen memorabilia:
"I submitted my donation to the Historical Society through 'Give 716' as close to 8:00 PM as possible, but I couldn't tell if my donation was one of the first 100 to get a jersey or not. I figured all results had to be reviewed and tabulated before announcing the rewards." Cindy didn't think she won the jersey but was happy her donation went to FCHS to help raise funds for a new roof on Fluvanna's historic Meeting House.
A couple weeks later, Cindy received a package in the mail from 'Give 716.' "I thought they sent me more 'Give 716' t-shirts. Turns out, I won an autographed Josh Allen jersey! I was VERY SURPRISED!!! My husband loved it!"
Well done, Cindy!!
Thanks to our Supporters
'Give 716' would not have been such a spectacular success if not for the generosity of FCHS members, supporters and friends. During the three-day event, FCHS received scores of donations from the community, which the Bills, Sabres and other corporate sponsors doubled.
FCHS's fantastic volunteers made 'Give 716' a success! Spreading the word, sharing social media posts and coordinating donations, FCHS supporters made all the difference.
Candie Muzza, Vice President of the Historical Society, kicked-off 'Give 716' by representing FCHS during the media day at KeyBank Center. She gave an interview, took promotional pictures, picked-up placards and reveled in the festive atmosphere.
Thanks, Candie, for starting us off on the right foot and thank you to our entire community!
We're looking forward to next year!
