Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills star quarterback and hero for NFL fans throughout the region, recently decided to donate a limited number of autographed jerseys to help raise awareness and support for the Fluvanna Historical Society (FCHS) and other non-profits in Western New York (WNY). As he leads the Bills closer to the goal of bringing home the franchise's first Super Bowl championship, and given his obvious skills and love for the game, Allen's popularity has only grown since he started calling Buffalo home. It's the quarterback's generosity and concern for communities throughout the region, however, that truly endears Josh Allen to the people of WNY.

Giving Back to the Community: "Give 716"

The same spirit of giving back to the communities that cheer them on throughout the year, connects loyal fans here and abroad to WNY's favorite, professional sports teams as a whole: the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. Their latest endeavor to rally widespread support for nonprofits in the region will only serve to strengthen the ties that bind our communities together and with these two generous teams.

In response to the urgent needs our nonprofit community in WNY is facing as a whole, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres Foundations created 'Give 716'; a 36-hour campaign providing an easy and fun way for our entire community to unite in support of local nonprofits. The Bills and Sabres pledged to support FCHS, and other nonprofits throughout WNY, by not only organizing 'Give 716' but also providing publicity, technical assistance, securing contributions from corporate sponsors and donating a significant amount of funds to match donations received as part of the event.

The jersey is emblazed with the number 17, the quarterback's name, "ALLEN" is printed above the jersey number and the logo of the Bills (a Buffalo Bison in blue, with red streaks streaming from it's horns, outlined in white and lunging forward) is above the player's last name. An autograph (of what is presumably Allen's signature) is handwritten in black ink in the white of the numeral 7 in the jersey number.

How to Score an Autographed Jersey

To do his part in spurring on donations to FCHS and other nonprofit organizations invited to participate in the event, Josh Allen donated 100 of his autographed Buffalo Bills jerseys.

Starting at 8:00 PM on Thursday, 7/14/2022, Allen will give away the autographed jerseys to the first 100 donors who give at least $716 or more to FCHS, to other nonprofits taking part in "Give 716" or some combination thereof. To make the donation, just follow these simple steps:

Logo of the Fluvanna Community Historical Society consisting of an artistic rendering of traditional looking church or meeting house in green, depicting gravestones to the left and a rising sun (colored yellow) in the east. In the corner is stylized name of the Fluvanna Community Historical Society, the EIN number and the logo of FCHS i.e., "Connecting with our past, connecting with each other and connecting with a brighter future." Underneath it all is a button outlined in red with the word "Donate" in the middle of it.

  1. Set a reminder to make a donation on Thursday, 7/14 @ 8:00 PM or shortly thereafter;

  2. Login to the FCHS 'Give 716' website by clicking here;

  3. Click the "Donate" button on the FCHS 'Give 716' fundraising page and follow the instructions.

Donations made after 8:00 PM that total $716 or more will qualify the donor to receive a jersey anytime thereafter while supplies last.

Because there are only 100 autographed jerseys available, donors should plan on contributing their donation as early as possible to increase the odds of obtaining one of the jerseys.

Other Ways to Contribute

There are other ways donors may contribute during the 'Give 716' event:

  • Matching Gifts: the Bills, Sabres or other co-sponsors will match donations received at specific times on 7/14 and 7/15 (for a full schedule of times for matching grants, download the "Give716 - Schedule" by clicking the file icon in this section);

  • Grant Opportunities: every hour of 'Give 716,' the organizers will draw the name of three organizations who received at least one donation during that hour. The three organizations whose names are pulled will receive $500 each;
