The Fluvanna Community Historical Society (FCHS) is thrilled to participate in the 2024 'Give 716' charity fundraising event! This year’s event will kick off on July 15th at 7:16 PM and run until July 16th at 11:59 PM. Fluvanna’s Strategic Matching Donation Hour
This year, if you donate up to $500 to FCHS through ‘Give 716,’ your donation may be matched by the Bills and Sabres Foundations! Unlike previous years, the matching donations will be randomly selected by ‘Give 716,’ rather than on a “first come, first serve” basis. This means you can make your donation at any time between 7:16 PM and 7:59 PM to be eligible for a chance to have your donation matched.
To maximize our chances of receiving matching funds, we need as many donations as possible during this hour. Every contribution counts, so we encourage everyone to donate during this timeframe. Your support can make a significant difference, and with the possibility of matching donations, your generosity can go even further!

Our strategy this year is to have all our FCHS supporters and friends submit as many donations (up to $500) as possible during the first hour of 'Give 716.' Because we are smaller in number than other charities in Western New York, we need to be as strategic as possible. By concentrating our efforts and making as many donations starting at 7:16 PM on 7/15, we can maximize the chances of having our donations matched by the Bills and Sabres Foundations

Additionally, even if you're unable to make your donation during the first hour of 'Give 716,' you still have a fantastic opportunity to get your donation matched.
While we’re hoping everyone can contribute during the first hour of ‘Give 716,’ we also want to make sure we’re receiving donations during the other matching donation hours to increase our chances at receiving matching donations. So if people are unable to give during the first hour or generously decide to give more than one donation, this would be very helpful for us. Just submit your donation of any amount (up to $500) for a chance to have it matched during the following hours:

What is Give 716
'Give 716' is a giving day presented by the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres Foundations to support local charities in Western New York. This event has been a major source of financial support for FCHS over the past four years, helping us continue our mission to preserve and share the rich history of our community.
What Your Donations Will Be Used For
At the heart of our community lies the Fluvanna Historic Meeting House—a cherished landmark that has witnessed generations of gatherings, celebrations, and shared memories. As we embrace the spirit of ‘Give 716,’ we’re excited to announce a transformative project that will enhance the Meeting House’s accessibility and functionality.
Modernizing the Bathrooms: Our first priority is a complete renovation of the Meeting House bathrooms. These facilities have faithfully served visitors for decades, but it’s time to bring them into the 21st century. Imagine bright, clean and modern restrooms that cater to everyone who walks through our doors—whether they’re attending a historical lecture, a community event or simply exploring our exhibits.
Redesigning the Basement: But that’s not all. We’re also embarking on an exciting journey to reimagine the Meeting House basement. This space, once tucked away, will soon become a hub for in-person and hybrid meetings, workshops and cultural events. By gutting and redesigning the basement, we’ll create a versatile area that fosters collaboration, creativity and connection.
Opening Our Doors to All: These renovations aren’t just about bricks and mortar; they’re about opening up possibilities. With your generous donations, we’ll be able to welcome the general public to the Meeting House every day of the week. Whether it’s a local history enthusiast, a student researching their roots or a family seeking a unique venue for a special occasion, our revitalized facilities will be there to serve.
