The long-time and much beloved play-by-play announcer for the Buffalo Sabres has donated a limited number of autographed banners to help raise awareness and support for the Fluvanna Historical Society (FCHS) and other non-profits in Western New York (WNY). A fixture of the Sabres Hockey Network for 51 years, Jeanneret (or "RJ" as he is known within the Sabres organization) has the distinction of being the longest-tenured play-by-play announcer with a single team within the NHL. Jeanneret is also renowned for the support and generosity he has shown for WNYers.

Once again, to do his part for 'Give 716,' Jeanneret has lended his name to benefit communities throughout the region.

What is "Give 716"

In response to the urgent needs our nonprofit community in WNY is facing as a whole, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres Foundations created 'Give 716'; a 36-hour campaign providing an easy and fun way for our entire community to unite in support of local nonprofits. The Bills and Sabres pledged to support FCHS, and other nonprofits throughout WNY, by not only organizing 'Give 716' but also providing publicity, technical assistance, securing contributions from corporate sponsors and donating a significant amount of funds to match donations received as part of the event.

How to Score an Autographed Banner

Rick Jeanneret is donating 500 autographed Rick Jeanneret banners to do his part in spurring on donations to FCHS and other nonprofit organizations invited to participate in the 'Give 716' event.

Starting at 5:00 PM on Friday, 7/15/2022, Jeanneret will give away the autographed banners to the first 500 donors who give at least $117.16 or more to FCHS, to other nonprofits taking part in "Give 716" or some combination thereof. To make the donation, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Set a reminder to make a donation on Friday, 7/15 @ 5:00 PM or shortly thereafter;

  2. Login to the FCHS 'Give 716' website by clicking here;

  3. Click the "Donate" button on the FCHS 'Give 716' fundraising page and follow the instructions.

Donations made after 8:00 PM that total $716 or more will qualify the donor to receive a banner anytime thereafter while supplies last.

Because there are only 500 autographed banners available, donors should plan on contributing their donation as early as possible to increase the odds of obtaining one of the banners.
