After a Week Delay Due to Winter Storm 'Elliott,' the Drawing for the "'Give 716' 50/50 Holiday Raffle!" Took Place Last Night and One Lucky Player Won an Historic Jackpot
The Buffalo Sabres Foundation announced the winning ticket numbers for the "'Give 716' Holiday 50/50 Raffle!" including the winning numbers for the eleven additional prizes donated by Western New York's (WNY) favorite premiere athletic teams.

Winter Storm 'Elliott' and the Drawing's Delay
Originally scheduled for December 23rd, 2022, the drawing for the "'Give 716' Holiday 50/50 Raffle!" actually took place last night (December 29th) during the Sabres vs. Detroit matchup. The winter storm, dubbed 'Elliott,' roared through WNY last week, over the course of the holiday weekend, particularly pummeling Buffalo and its environs. This resulted in the one-week delay for the drawing. The blizzard also scuttled Christmas plans for hundreds of thousands and, at latest count, most tragically resulted in the deaths of 40 people (1 in Niagara and 39 in Erie counties).
In response to the negative effects wrought by the storm, the Bills and Sabres (along with so many other organizations and people throughout WNY) rallied to provide relief. The Sabres not only stood by their promise to donate, to area nonprofit organizations, the proceeds from yesterday's raffle but also pledged an additional $50,000 to local charities. These funds will be used to provide immediate and specific services to those most affected by the blizzard. Not to be outdone, the Bills announced their donation of $100,000 to the storm relief efforts, which will be matched by the National Football League (NFL) and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY. In addition, the Bills will donate all contributions received by their Foundation, from now and until January 10th, to provide assistance with recovery from the storm. All of this on top of donating the net proceeds from the Bill's regular 50/50 raffle (the drawing for which will take place during the last regular home game of the season, against the New England Patriots, on January 8, 2023).
Jackpot Amount: Winning Number!
Due to the extension of the original drawing date, the additional six days to purchase tickets resulted in the jackpot for the "'Give 716' Holiday 50/50 Raffle!" ballooning to $251,672. This resulted in a record-breaking amount raised for any Sabres sponsored 50/50 raffle. The fundraising event overall and the jackpot itself will definitely please at least one lucky ticket holder and most definitely benefit the Fluvanna Community Historical Society (FCHS) and other great charities throughout WNY.
